Combining a passion for the sea with fervour for exploration, Velvet Adventure Sailing offers skippered charter sailing holidays in a comfortable and friendly atmosphere.
On the majority of our charters, berths are available to be booked on an individual basis, come along alone or with a friend or partner and meet other adventurous people. Alternatively put together a group of your own friends or family and charter the whole boat.
Our adventures take place aboard our yacht “Velvet Lady”. She is a 55 foot sailing yacht built by Oyster of Ipswich. Oysters are world renowned for their comfort and security.
All our holidays are skippered by round the world yachtswoman Lin Parker, who has 20 years experience as a professional yacht skipper and is well accomplished at both introducing the new comer and coaching the more experienced. With a maximum of 6 guests and 2 crew aboard, there is plenty of room and we can ensure you are well looked after. For more information on your hosts Lin and Richard see our webpage Why Velvet.
Our idea of cruising is to combine a great days sailing with enough time to relax and explore the places we visit. Join us on our adventures to interesting destinations not on the usual yachting calendar and therefore less touristy. We do not just sail from marina to marina and often anchor in secluded bays, or tie up in working fishing ports.
• Summer 2009 - We take a tour of Norway and the Lofoten Islands Our passage to Norway is via the Faroe Islands and our return passage from Norway is via the Shetland and Orkney Islands. These trips will start and finish in Dunstaffnage on the west coast of Scotland. We also have two UK Cruises as we sail north from Plymouth to Dunstaffnage in May and south from Dunstaffnage to Plymouth in August
• Autumn 2009 – Sail aross Biscay, explore the Spanish Rias or visit Morocco en route to the Mediterranean. Late autumn join us on a Blue Water Adventure as we sail from Malaga to Madeira or Madeira to Lanzarote in the Canary Islands.
• Winter 2009/10 – Soak up some winter sun in The Canary Islands we have a mix of relaxed and adventurous cruises. Sail with us at Xmas, New Year, and into 2010. We have a very adventurous trip in February where we aim to visit all of the islands in the Canary Island Archipelago!
• Spring 2010 - Sail with us on one of our Blue Water Adventures. Tenerife to Madeira; Madeira to the Azores; or on a longer Ocean Passage from the Azores to UK
Dates for 2010 will be published in July 2009
• Ocean passages are available on all our trips between the above destinations.
