Only 4 hours away by plane The Canary Islands are an ideal place to explore whilst soaking up some winter sunshine.

Join us on a Sailing Holiday in the Canary Islands. We run sailing holidays in Lanzarote in December, January and February, and we run Sailing Holidays in La Gomera in March. Lanzarote is situated just 70 miles off the coast of Africa and is the most easterly of the Canary Islands. The island is 37 miles (60km) long and 12 miles (20 km) wide, making it the fourth largest island in the Canaries.
Lanzarote enjoys a mild dry climate with average daytime temperatures of 21C in January. Annual rainfall is just 140mm (5.5 inches). Situated in the trade wind belt the wind is predominantly North Easterly and the frequency of gales is low. The islands are not affected by hurricanes.
As with the other Canary Islands, Lanzarote is Volcanic in origin. Due to the recent eruptions during the 18th and 19th Centuries, many parts of Lanzarote appear to be from another world, often described as 'lunar' or 'Martian', so much so that parts of 'Planet of the Apes' were shot here. The dry climate (and lack of erosion) means that the Volcanic Landscape appears much as it did just after the eruptions.
Despite the Volcanic nature of the island, Lanzarote also has several beautiful white sandy beaches.
Try one of our ‘Relaxed Cruising’ 7 day trips where we sail approximately 3-5 hours per day, and spend the remainder of the time exploring ashore or relaxing on the golden sandy beaches. During a lazy 7 days we can visit the islands of Lanzarote, La Graciosa and Isla de Lobos
Weekly mileage approx 120
Want to sail more miles?
Try our 'Adventure Cruising' trips where we sail more miles, include overnight sailing and visit more islands in the Canary Islands chain.
In March we will also be offering a 10 night Adventure Sailing Holiday with the aim of sailing from Lanzarote to the furthest west island, La Palma before returning to La Gomera. We will also be offering a 10 night Sailing Holiday starting and finishing in La Gomera and visiting the western islands in the Canary Island chain.
For something different why not try our Blue Water Sailing Holiday as we leave La Gomera in the Canary Islands and head north to Madeira. A great trip to sample your first taste of true ocean sailing on the 3 day passage north. We will spend our first day sailing across to Tenerife and making an overnight stop at the beautiful anchorage under the cliffs of Los Gigantes. We then set off on a 2 to 3 day passage to sail 270nm across the Atlantic to Funchal, the vibrant capital city of Madeira. After spending the night here we will continue along the Madeira coastline to Quinto da Lorde marina situated close to the airport at the eastern end of the island, our port of disembarkation
