Circumnavigate Lanzarote under sail and visit La Graciosa - 2019

The aim of the week is to circumnavigate the island of Lanzarote and spend a day ashore on the beautiful island of La Graciosa.  There are 3 marinas on the island of Lanzarote and many beaches and anchorages.  As well as sailing we find time to swim, fish, sunbathe on the beach in a deserted anchorage, walk in the sand dunes and visit the local bars for some spanish speciality tapas!

Why not join us in Lanzarote for this great relaxing winter sailing holiday.  This is our 11th season here and we know where to go to get the best out of the weather. The regular trade winds ensure that we have good sailing in the day time, and our renowned on board hospitality ensures that you have a relaxing time on board. It will be warm and sunny, giving you a chance to wear your shorts and T shirts ashore, however you will also need some warmer clothes as on the water the breeze can be cold.

This trip is a real deal at £835,  all inclusive on board.  All meals and snacks, wine with dinner, bedding, towels, waterproof clothing, safety equipment, instruction and harbour dues are included.  Just pay your flights and travel insurance.

Our changeover days give you as much choice as possible with flights, or why not fly a day or two earlier/later and see what else Lanzarote has to offer you inland.

This is an  itinerary from last year - you can read more about our previous Canary Island Sailing Holidays in my blog here – each week we tailor our itinerary to the weather.  We expect to sail 120nm this week.

Day 1 – Arrive on board 1800.  Welcome reception, introductions and itinerary discussion.          Dinner served on board at 2000

Day 2 – Breakfast on board  followed by safety briefing.  We circumnavigate the island in an anticlockwise direction so on the first day we head east to Punta Papagayo and then north to our first stop the marina at Puerto Calero (3 - 5 hours sailing)

Day 3  - Have a quick walk along the clifftops at Puerto Calero in the morning before setting off at 11 for a sail east along the coast to Arrecife and a stay in the modern new marina Marina Lanzarote.  Explore ashore in the old town (3 to 5 hours sailing)

Day 4 – Its a long beat today, we'll get plenty of practice at tacking, but worth it to sail around the northern tip of Lanzarote and on to the tiny island of La Graciosa. (8 hours sailing)

Day 5 – With its fantastic beaches and volcanos, Graciosa is a great place to visit. Spend the day exploring ashore  walk to the village, climb the volcano or relax on the beach before returning for a drink on board at sunset

Day 6 – Enjoy  brunch at sea as we return downwind from La Graciosa along the western side of Lanzarote to the fabulous anchorage at Playa Papagayo. (8 hours sailing)

Day 7 – Swim after breakfast!  Sail around the tiny island of Los Lobos, eat lunch in the lee of the island and admire the sundunes on Fuerteventura, return to Marina Rubicon by late afternoon. (5 hours sailing)

Day 8 - Breakfast, Depart.

This is an example itinerary of what we did last year on an adventure sailing holiday aboard Velvet Lady in the Canary Islands.  Velvet Lady is an Oyster 55 skippered yacht.  All our sailing holidays are weather dependent and the exact itinerary will be decided by the skipper to suit the weather conditions.  To see other itineraries for skippered charters in the Canary Islands please see our schedule
