April Sailing in the Atlantic, Gibraltar Strait and Med

We're in Gibraltar Bay and from here we can head into the Med, across to Morocco or west a bit along the Spanish coast.  A great place for some April sunshine.

We will be moored in the Spanish town of La Linea, right next to Gibraltar airport and we will finish back in the same place.(The marinas in Gib can get very busy). We will plan the week around spending a night in Gibraltar with a whole day to explore either at the beginning, the end or even in the middle depending on weather.

The easiest way to get to Gibraltar is to fly direct from UK, but to increase the number of flights you could also fly to Malaga and take a bus.

Join on board between 12 noon and 1800.  If you are early go off and find your own lunch, mid afternoon we will have tea and biscuits and at 1800 it is time to meet your fellow crew mates and discuss the trip.  Please do not be later than 1800.

We do not run courses but this trip is ideal to get hands on sailing and practice all the theory you may have learnt in a classroom over the winter!

From Gibraltar Bay we can head east into the Mediterannean, west into the Atlantic or south to Morocco and the Spanish enclave of Ceuta.  The weather will help us decide the order!

We will finish back in the Spanish town of La Linea - right next to Gibraltar airport.

Days 4– Spend the day wondering the souks of Tangiers or visiting the ancient fortress

Days 5 - From Tangier its 30 miles to the Spanish enclave of Ceuta, a tiny promontory jutting out into the Med

Day 6 – Lets head further into the Med and sail from Ceuta to Sotogrande

Day 7 – Sail from Sotogrande back to Gibraltar and look for a space in one of the Marinas.

This is an example itinerary for a sailing holiday aboard Velvet Lady.  Velvet Lady is an Oyster 55 skippered yacht and all our trips are great for hands on sailing no matter what your experience.  We have to be practical so all our sailing holidays are weather dependent and the exact itinerary will be decided by the skipper to suit the weather conditions. On all our trips it is possible to book an individual berth and become part of a group. To see our other opportunities please see our schedule

AA Day sailing holidays during daylight hours in more testing weather conditions
This trip is great for all experience levels including those new to sailing, but if you are expecting flat water like the Solent the sea might come as a bit of a surprise!  The swell of the Atlantic can reach as much as 3/4 metres and thus present more of a challenge.
