It was great to be back out on the water – in our very shiny boat. Highlights of this week were Waves, Whales and many hidden cameras. Tony arrived on board with a great selection of different kinds of cameras and remote devices, and took lots of footage in order to make a video – ‘a day in the life on board…’
He will have plenty of material to work with. We had great sailing and a mix of weather conditions. Starting with 30 knot winds, torrential rain and 5 metre waves on the first day, to motoring in flat calm on the way up to Graciosa. We sailed 170 miles this trip – more than usual as Velvet Lady slipped along really fast with her shiny bottom! We managed to circumnavigate Graciosa and Isla Lobos as well as Lanzarote!
For many though, the highlight of the week was our sighting of 3 Sei Whales. Spouting in the distance alerted us to their presence and so – as we were motoring in flat calm we set off to investigate. Not wanting to disturb them we kept our distance, but they were curious and came right up alongside us. Tony has great footage of the spouts and whales – its harder with a camera, but John and Bridget got great shots too.
Tony’s hoping to load his video on our blog and facebook page – it will give you a great idea of what to expect on board.
If you want to find out for yourself, why not join us – we have trips to suit everyone. Beginners right up to Yachtmasters and we have just published our new schedule taking us right up to April 2017
All that remains to be done is repaint the blue line below the windows and remove all the masking tape! That is being done at the moment and will be finished tomorrow evening. Instead of launching immediately after painting the blue line the yard would like us to wait for launching until Monday – which is fine by us, especially since they do not want us walking on the deck and so are putting us up in a shoreside villa – with our own pool, great!
What could be better – now I’ll be able to cool down with a quick dip.
Look forward to seeing you all on board our shiny new boat.
